Now with change also comes new learning and challenges. You are about to go on something completely different, a new experience. After you finish reading this article, you will learn about those challenges you might face as a vegan so when time comes, you will be able to tackle them one by one.

The first challenge you will face is the absence of animal products on your diet. If you were never a big fan of a steak for dinner or BBQ on a Sunday with your friends, then this would not be a problem to you. But if you love ice cream on a really hot summer day, you realize that this suddenly became a no-no in your diet. What to do now?

Start by looking for vegan substitutes for these types of food. With a bit of time researching your local markets, you will find that there are vegan substitutes for almost any type of animal products. For example, there are many great choices for ice cream made with soy, and there are also sausages made with soy that you can grill on your BBQ, and no one would notice the difference.

Other challenges that might come up on your journey as a vegan, is the feeling that you don’t have many choices regarding foods. This is true at the beginning, because you are just starting out as a vegan and you don’t know where to start. But let me tell you that this becomes easier and easier with experience and willing to try different ingredients and foods from all over the world.

Start by getting some vegan cooking books and you will learn about all the different ingredients and the wide variety of vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds you can use in your cooking. With time you will learn that there is a huge selection of vegan dishes you can choose from, which tastes great and are cruelty free.
